Vertigo Confirm Johanna Constantine Mini-Series

DC/Vertigo have confirmed that they will be releasing a four-issue Lady Johanna Constantine mini-series. The series will be written by Andy Diggle, illustrated by Goran Sudzuka, coloured by Trish Mulvihill and come with covers by Phil Noto.

Will Dennis, the editor of the project, had the following to say about it -

"It’s an action packed adventure set in 1785 full of monsters, mystical objects, pirate ships, sword fights, sexy costumes (and a little sex!) and magic. Johanna gets hired by the British monarchy to track down a mystical prize filled with world-destroying power and she has to use all her tricks to stay one step ahead of the evil forces in pursuit of the same prize. Those tricks include magic, as she too is a mage. But she's in her early 20's so she is still new to the game and that will be part of her charm/problems.

"I see it as Tomb Raider/Raiders Of The Lost Ark set in the time of Dangerous Liaisons that should appeal to a wide comic audience - particularly fans of both the Sandman and Hellblazer."

In a post made to the Warren Ellis Forum, Andy Diggle had this to say -

"It's a four-part mini-series, with the first episode due out in November, I believe. There should be enough nods to Hellblazer, Sandman and Swamp Thing continuity to keep long-time Vertigo fans happy, plus enough sex, violence, demons, and spectacular decapitations to keep everyone else happy. We aim to please.

And as you can see, Goran has absolutely nailed the trademark Consantine "Fuck You" look. Splendid."
