The Holy Shotgun
"A character called Balthazar [kills a friend of Constantine's]. Constantine wants revenge, so he puts together this "holy shotgun" made from arcane religious icons that fit together and fire bullets with crosses on them." - Keanu Reeves speaking about his character's firearm in Constanine.
Speaking on our forum, John Goodrich had the following to say...
Seems to be a Victorian-style revolving shotgun, although I have no idea what the 'lighting' thing is. I predict they'll say this thing is from further back than revolvers were made--1863 or so--the highly ornate style makes it seem a bit 18th century, except for the shortened pistol-grip which is very late 20th c "alley-sweeper". It looks like this is a gussied-up modern shotgun, possibly an automatic with a brass-catcher made to look like a cylinder.

Another point, they're trying to maker it look older than it is. If you look at the first two pictures, you see the Shortun barrell has that octagonal barrell shape that's very pre-1880's. But when some light is shed on it, we see that we just have a round (and a bit thick to be modern) barrell with stuff glued to it to make it look octagonal.

But at least we won't have him doing the very stereotpyical pump-cock of the damn thing. The way Hollywood loves that, you'd think there were no semiautomatic shotguns for sale.

That said, I'm sure there will be a big dramatic moment when the Devil blows the fuse of the shotgun out.
Yes, I'm an American, but I'm not ACTUALLTY obsessed with guns, not do I actually own one. It's just that I've been in a couple of situations in which a working familiarity with modern firearms has been a beneficial thing.
